Biography
Since 2006, Christian Monseur is professor at the University of Liège. His main lectures are devoted to quantitative research's methods, including sampling theory, measurement models and statistical analyses.
He has a primary teacher degree, a university masters degree in Educational Science and completed a Masters degree in applied statistics and computer science. Late 2005, he defended his PhD work on the computation of trends indicators based on international surveys in Education (PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS¿)
Christian first worked for ten years as a Research Assistant at the University of Liège in Belgium. Then, from 1999 to the end of 2002, he worked as Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research as associate director for the OECD/PISA 2000 study and as project director for the OECD/PISA Plus study. He contributed to several OECD PISA initial reports.
He is currently member of the Technical Advisory Group of the OECD PISA, TALIS and Starting Strong Surveys studies. He has also been involved in different technical committee's in IEA studies.
Christian research's main interests are (i) the methodology of International Surveys in Education, in particular the impact of the methodology on statistical results and indicators, and (ii) the study of the efficiency and equity of educational systems based on international survey database's analyses.
