The Department of Psychology is part of the Faculty of Psychology, Logopedics and Educational Sciences. The curriculum begins with the general bachelor's degree in psychological and educational sciences, which offers sound theoretical and methodological training in all facets of the psychological and educational sciences, as well as an introduction to various professional fields. Some courses are shared with the Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy. This is followed by a Master's degree in Psychological Sciences, which enables students to specialize in one or two fields: "Clinical Psychology", "Social, Occupational and Organizational Psychology" and "Cognitive Neuroscience and Experimental Psychology". Students may choose two options in a single field, or one option in two different fields. Choosing at least one option in the "clinical psychology" field qualifies the student for a year of supervised practice, and for visa (at federal level) and accreditation (at community level) as a clinical psychologist. These approvals are required to practice as a clinical psychologist in Belgium. At the same time, the Master's degree in Psychological Sciences organized by the Department of Psychology provides access to the full diversity of the psychology profession, depending on the fields and options chosen. The teaching team, made up of professors, permanent scientists and scientific and teaching assistants, offers excellent training that is both theoretical and scientific, and rooted in the realities of the field.

The courses on offer focus on recent theoretical, technological and clinical developments, useful for psychological assessment and care, from children to advanced adults, with or without disorders, in an individual or group context. Students will be introduced to the complex dynamics of clinical issues and relationships, as well as to the techniques of virtual reality, quantitative and qualitative research, meta-analysis, neurostimulation and cerebral neuroimaging, all within an evidence-based approach. Training in the psychological sciences also highlights the multidimensional and systemic aspect of the human being, making students aware of the interdependencies between the psychological, biological, social, cultural and environmental spheres.

The department also offers a wide range of services to the community, including clinical consultation via the CPLU, various expert missions (in psychotraumatology, neuropsychology, statistical and scientific methodology, etc.), participation in scientific, professional and patient associations, and the organization of continuing education courses. It is involved with the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique - FNRS, the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles, the INAMI and collaborates with many other Belgian and foreign universities, notably via Erasmus exchange programs.
